This is one of the coolest things I've EVER seen... WHO put this all together?!?!
Again, thank you... this is outstanding work.

Thank you for your appreciation. It's some effort to edit these listings, but comments like yours are so encouraging.

Danke vielmals.
Even though I've visited the archives in Czernowitz and made photos, your site has helped me make sense of them.
Thank you!

Hi, this is amazing. My Grandfather is from the village but I only know little bits from the stories he has told me. He lived on the outskirts and this Christmas marks 70 years since he was made to leave with the army.

He has visited several times and has never been able to find his mother's grave. His father was a shoe maker and his Auntie owned a restaurant in the late 30s.

How can I find more derails? I know his mother was called Anna, his father Maria. The family name is Nocek (on some documents written as Nosek).

Thank you for your appreciation. Although it's focussed on Jewish genealogy, I'm strongly encouraging you, to follow the priceless hints, summerized by the "Jewish Bukovina:
Sources for Genealogical and Family History Research"
Success!

Why does the Czernivitz database cut off at the “”G’s” ?

Edgar Hauster said...

Doug...

Thank you for drawing my attention to this problem. As a matter of fact the database "1914: Inhabitants and Homeowners of Czernowitz (17,990 datasets)" izself doesn't cut off at the "G's", but apparently Blogger and/or your Internet browser are limiting the page view in order to lower data traffic. My advise: Switch to a PC and please download and check the original Excel file!

Best wishes!
Edgar
